1st & 2nd Grade Tutoring

Empowering young learners to thrive.

Reading

Reading is all about comprehension and fluency and practicing skills like enunciation and sight word recognition. It’s an exciting time when kids explore different genres, find their favorite authors, and discover how fun reading can be!

Writing

Writing is about getting creative ideas down on paper. From crafting simple sentences to telling short stories, your child will learn to organize their thoughts, improve their handwriting, and have fun building their writing skills!

Math

Math is all about building confidence with numbers. From mastering basic addition and subtraction to exploring shapes, patterns, and early problem-solving skills, it's the perfect time for kids to spark a love for numbers while having fun!

Let me take a load
off your plate.

You probably don’t remember everything you learned in school. But you’ll get a pretty good crash course as your child learns it all for the first time. Between fractions and narrative writing, it can be hard to keep up with the school curriculum, especially as your child gets older. During this new academic chapter, your child might need help with reading or spelling. Or maybe they need a little extra practice with math. Whatever the case, I can help your child walk into school feeling confident and ready to learn!

Big dreams start
with small steps.

Your child is officially a big kid! 1st and 2nd grade is such an exciting time for young students who are just starting to figure out who they are and what they love doing. It’s also a turning point when the pace and pressure of school begin to pick up and extracurricular activities start to take up more time. As your child gets into the swing of school, there might be times when they need help understanding content and you need help explaining it.

One of the best things about tutoring is you don’t have to have all the answers. Using personalized lessons and play-based activities, I work with kids of all academic levels to improve their skills and help them become confident learners. I enjoy using a blend of learning techniques, like songs, storytelling, and pictures to help kids work through challenging concepts and master content in a way they understand, and I provide you with at-home activities to ensure your child has consistent practice. Best of all, I teach with play-based activities because kids learn best when they’re having fun!
